I've listened to this wider convo and 100% get this. It isn't about not being a bridesmaid, it's about thinking your friendship is at a certain point and the realisation that it isn't reciprocated and that can be upsetting. I had a friend who I was a close to (not best friends but easily top ten) and when I wasn't invited to the hen do/wedding I didn't cry but I definitely had this unpleasant pang of realisation that she didn't see me the same way. She'd done nothing wrong, but it didn't stop me feeling that way.

This can go hand in had with realising your the peripheral friend. Invited to everything but not missed if you can't go. Never thought of 1st always an afterthought. Yet you don't or didn't realise you were as for you the friendships were priorities.

i really get the realisation that you aren't as important to someone as they are to you. After years of telling me i was her closest friend, my friend told me I wasn't going to part of the bridal party because she just wanted her closest friends (i know it's her choice but it hurt), then just yesterday, she turned to me and said she want my help on the morning of the wedding to set up the venue... 😬

My best friend of over 20 years didnt ask me to be a bridesmaid.. she was my maid of honour. I've never been the same since. Well and truly humbled lol

Am I the only who never wanted to be a bridesmaid. I remember my sister wanting me to be hers , I hated the experience of trying on dresses . I was honestly delighted she decided to just have a small wedding in Rome , no bridesmaids ..
