I had a character who's backstory was so interesting to me I ended up writing it into it's own novella 😂

how do we avoid cliches? sometimes it feels original to me but soon find out its not after being excited to write about it. sometimes feeling like a fraud tbh.

Can you make a video explaining how to incorporate the backstory into the main story? It's so hard for me without making it a monologue or a differrent chapter 😭🫶

should my prologue be a glimpse into the past of the world to help establish the setting or a glimpse into the past of the protag to help introduce and flesh him out?

my character has such a good backstory, but I have no idea how to present it in a non-info-dump way

What about him losing an important figure in his life in some tragic way and then he goes to do the thing that actually got that figure killed which also contributes to more deaths? (I’m trying not to give spoilers to my story) Is this too cliche? It also has a lot to do with the plot line.

Okay, i need advice!! So my main character is, like, a robot who gains sentience right at the beginning of the story. This is important because the story is supposed to be a metaphor for life, in a way, so her gaining sentience is equivalent to a child being born. But the problem is she doesn't really have much of a past/backstory besides this and I'm wondering if this is even a good idea or if I should change it somehow? Feel free to reply in the comments, I really wanna hear your thoughts!

Huh, I include backstories as a form of flashback in the beginning of a chapter, I do this to introduce characters and their relationships in the past, which in turn makes it easy for readers to know why they act the way they do in the actual story

how much do I tell in the story? my mmc has a backstory, very relevant to the character right now and the history of their family has changed the whole world. I almost want a chapter dedicated to thus but idk how to include it

I created my female character’s backstory in order to explain how psycho she starts going along the story 😇 because I feel like I’ve read too much of a good, morally white female leads and I thought it would be interesting to see mine go through different stage or morality (from morally white, to morally gray)

is it okay if the full backstory of my MC is sort of, introduced in sections like a museum throughout the story. like the heavy stuff I mean. when the MC is going through an arc or a key part of the story that brings another layer of mystery that sort of alows me to briefly foreshadow or tell a piece of there suppressed backstory that is relevant to their current state. I like to do this as it shows a part of the character, and gives both reasons to why my MC acts a certain way and how the future is possibly shaped to be like. like looking through a psychological museum of the MC.

My character’s backstory is actually something that happened to his dad when he was little. I’m planning on incorporating it in a series of flashbacks that get increasingly dark as the story around them does

Is dead mother too cliche? It greatly affects the character because her being is about living up to her mother yet resenting her so is that ok? Also the mother’s death is like a main driving force for what the character does e.g revenge arc and so on.
