My first bullies were black girls. I was too nerdy, tooo skinny, too into books, too quiet, accused of trying to be “white” because of the way I was taught to speak by my very black, and very strict Methodist great grandmother from Louisiana. Honestly, this era is the first time have ever felt acceptance by any black womenfolk cuz I have been ostracized by them my entire life for just existing.
