how do you fix a light switch that broke? it's the type that has a tab that sticks out and you flip it on/off. it was the switch to my garbage disposal. I have it unplugged right now.

There is a chance that it may not be the light switch itself and that the garbage disposal has gone bad. One way to find out whether the garbage disposal is bad, is to turn on the switch and see if the garbage disposal is making a humming noise. If that is the case, the garbage disposal is seized up. If it does not make a humming noise, there is a reset button on the bottom of the garbage disposal that can be reset. It may require using an Allen wrench key in the bottom of the garbage disposal to twist and to loosen the motor or the garbage disposal has died and needs replaced.
