My son turned 2 in March and we’re starting speech therapy this month. I had to push my pediatrician to put in a referral because he comprehends so much, but isn’t putting words together or saying many words. But in my opinion, it can’t hurt anything.

Thank you for this!! I have been told by multiple pediatricians that boys will talk later and to give it time but he’s almost 2 and not where he should be with language. I finally was able to get a referral for an SLP 😅 just trying to do my best until the appt

My 18 mo old still hasn't said his first word, but he follows commands and understands what things are used for. Most sounds he makes are just in the back of his throat, muffled. Idk what to do for him. 😞

my 15mo makes a lot of sounds and responds to us but doesn't say actual words and I'm not sure how to help. he tries to say a few words but doesn't even say mama or dada

I have three boys. Two had to have speech therapy because they were delayed and one was talking right on time! Sometimes they just need some extra help

People LOVED to tell me this when i had my son & are always shocked now to see how well he speaks at 18mos. I cant stand the gender based generalizations that people make about children! Gender aside, all kids are different!

We don’t need a study to tell us love. Millions of mothers over a great number of years have observed that boys talk later than giris, generally.

My boy started talking veeeery early and A LOT. I’d like to think it’s because i talked to him a lot and basically made everything i did a documentary lol

I so wish I’d had this advice 3 years ago. People kept telling me this including my pediatrician. He didn’t get a referral for speech therapy until he was 3. He’s now 5 and at 50% speech accuracy, 80% if he focuses. He gets speech therapy through the county in kindergarten and it has helped him so much but we still have a long way to go.
