So I’m married to someone who’s been in the infantry for nearly 19yrs now and I can’t explain why but it bothers me when people use this poem and have zero idea why it was even written. It’s so incredibly heartbreaking and imo shows how devastatingly horrific the trauma is for people who actually do go to war.

As a person suffering from PTSD this hits me in a way I can't explain.. I feel that soldiers heartbeat laying on the ground between his buddies just for survival. Im not a soldier but have gotten my PTSD as a firstresponder and still I feel this so much inside of me, resonate!!
