@hedgerow_healing: 🌳 CELTIC RAINFORESTS 🌳 When you say the word 'rainforest' images of evergreen trees in a warm, damp environment spring to mind. But Celtic rainforest are slightly different. These are patches of temperate forests usually made up of oak, rowan and beech. They harbour a number of rare plant and animal species and are usually coated in mosses and ferns of all kinds. They are truly magical places, steeped in mythology and legend. Some old Folklore speaks of these woods being gateways into the Otherworld, the Celtic realm of the faeries. While others hide tales of Druids, ghosts, monsters and heroes. These woods have inspired many through the ages, and what remains of these rare woodlands continues to do so to this day. You can only find these pockets of Celtic rainforest in certain areas of the British Isles, and they are usually protected habitats. It's always wise to enter these places with care, leaving no trace and immersing yourself in the magic that comes with the wildwood. looks like you are in my favourite place of work. I used to work all of the wooded areas around Beddgelert/Capel curig and Betws y coed. for years i was trying to manage the invasive species, but it is a massive struggle with land owners that didn't want me on their land

i live in indiana US and i’ve read that before it was colonized it was described as a temperate rainforests. so cool to see what it might have looked like!! i think about it every day
