For me slightly “bossy” from a parent is often preferred, especially when childcare is in their presence.. otherwise it can just get pretty awkward/unclear knowing when to step in or hang back.

As a nanny I do a flat rate! The lines aren’t always clear on if I’m off or not and I don’t want the parents to have to focus on that!

Flat rate works well as long as the expected hours and responsibility are discussed ahead of time and the nanny gets a reasonable amount of time off for her/himself.

Why are people arguing about this? The nanny agreed to the terms… and she didn’t even reveal the fee, maybe it worked out to a much better deal than hourly.

As a former nanny, one thing that is nice to have cleared up is some time off during the trip that is specified upfront. The last thing you want is an overworked and overtired and overstressed nanny on vacation.

Lovedddd doing this w the family I nannied for in college. Would go take the baby up from the beach for a nap in the afternoon and hangout by myself for 2 hours a day for my “off” time. It was the best!!!

I used to travel w my nanny fam and they paid for everything plus my hourly fee and a nightly stay over fee which was a flat rate :). This was fabulous and more than fair I thought. They were amazing!!!

My daughter went to Aruba with a family and instead of paying her they bought her a LV purse. The purse was nice but she’s a college kid and took a week off from her regular job. She would have like the cash instead
