The longer your comment is, the more likely it is that TikTok’s algorithm will push the video to other people’s "For You" pages. That means more people will end up seeing it, which is exactly what we don’t want to happen in this case. Even if your comment is meant to be helpful or supportive, a long comment boosts engagement, and TikTok sees that as a sign that the video is interesting or worth spreading. So instead of helping, it actually does the opposite — it increases the reach. If you feel like you really want to say something, keep your comment as short as possible. Something like "ok", "seen", or even just an emoji is way better than a full sentence or paragraph. This helps avoid boosting the video’s performance. Even better consider not commenting at all if it’s not necessary. Watching for too long, rewatching, sharing, saving, or commenting especially with long replies are all behaviors TikTok picks up on when deciding whether to push a video to more people. Also, if you’ve noticed, the hashtags on the video don’t really match the content. That actually works in our favor. Since the hashtags are unrelated, TikTok will struggle to categorize it properly, which means it won’t automatically show similar videos on your For You page unless you’ve been heavily interacting with this kind of content. So that’s one good thing it kind of protects you from being flooded with similar content just because you watched one video. But still, engagement plays a big part in what TikTok recommends next. If you watch a full video and leave a comment, the system assumes you liked it or found it important, even if your reaction was the opposite. The best way to stay safe and avoid giving it attention is to limit interaction altogether no likes, no shares, and definitely no detailed comments.
