I don’t want to victim blame but I can’t wrap my head around the choices she made as a mother. She did the whole sovereign citizen thing and made it to no one would be able to check on them, completely isolated them from everyone. It just seems unfair that she decided to take her two young kids on a year long trip with someone she met online and never thought what could happen :(

I think the mom was dealing with mental health issues. Isolating them from school and family, impulsively moving them around and making decisions like hopping on boats with strangers. I hate to think that anything happened to them, and I hope they're located safely but it feels unlikely, considering no one had seen them. It's doubtful she could fully live off grid without having to get supplies and be seen. I feel for those boys and the family.
