@charles_dowding: 🌱 Timing is everything. I took a gamble with timing with these courgettes, I sowed them early or earlier than I would normally, roughly 8th of April instead of 20th of April. They were ready to go in the ground maybe 2nd of May, something like that. My last frost date is middle of May, so they're prone to frost if it happens and it did happen. On the 6th of May, we had a freezing morning here and these survived and that's because we had not only this quite thin fleece over, but another one on top. So that's an example of how you can protect plants against frost and having the hoops also helps because that keeps the fleece not touching leaves, which is where you get the stalk scorching sometimes. Which do you find a greater challenge, cool weather but enough rain, or warm sunny weather but too dry?

Hi Charles! Been binging your youtube videos, love your approach! I've a fairly big issue here in my new property - its a massively over grown field full of buttercups, dandelions, nettles, brambles and heaps of bindweed. I used a brushcutter to cut it back in March and its grown back with a vengence. I stupidly didnt use tarps right away. I've now cleared and tarped a few sections but my heart is broken at the amount of work ahead! My big question I hope you can advise me on - Should I just wait till september for die back and strim+tarp cover then or should I just jump into it now? I'm honestly really stuck, any advice would be hugely appreciated! I just don't want to make extra work for myself as its about 1/2 an acre! 🙏
