@natalieinvienna: There are coffee houses— and then there is Café Central. A revolutionary (Leon Trotsky), a psychiatrist (Sigmund Freud), a poet (Alfred Polgar, Stefan Zweig, Peter Altenberg), and an architect (Adolf Loos) walk into a café. What sounds like the beginning of a joke was, in fact, everyday reality at Café Central, which opened in 1876. Over coffee, cake, and the occasional cigar, some of the greatest poets, thinkers – and yes, fabulists – gathered in the cozy atmosphere of Vienna’s most beautiful coffeehouse.
