It’s not narcissism. It’s EGO. Everything we do is to feed our Ego. First we survive then once we have done that we procreate. We’re animals with a lot of feelings and a more advanced type of intelligence based on repeating cycles and rules/laws. Only my opion.

there is only one path to being bulletproof; You will begin to accrue self worth by simply DOING the next right thing, and keeping your mouth shut about it. a small example; being polite to everyone. bigger example: Invite the outlier at work to lunch with the group.
