i feel like not only was this a performance it was a PROTEST!!! notice how everyone’s wearing black?? they’re mourning the loss of the ideal democracy they had in 2015 when the musical came out on broadway (obama was serving his second term). not only was everyone wearing black, king george was the only was that wasn’t. he was wearing red. king george also interrupts lafayette before he can say “immigrants, we get the job done.” instead he mocks him saying “really?” lafayette is also wearing a black beret and one black glove paying homage to the black panther party which was a revolutionary organization advocating for black power and self-defense against police brutality. on history has its eyes on you, george washington is pointing to us telling us that history lies in our hands, and when they transition to non stop, eliza (i think) is singing “he will never be satisfied!” they’re obviously talking about our government now. i could honestly go on and on and on but what are your thoughts?

they DESERVED that standing ovation I was in literal all watching all of them perform after 10 years later and just to see them all together reunited just warmed my heart even more. I’m not surprised and I don’t judge him for tearing up because this show was spectacular.
