Someone said they used “Honchoed” before 😂 Feel free to drop your EPB pointers below so everyone can benefit! Here are some personal tips I’ve learned over the years. Feel free to use what suits you! • Utilize the acronym page on myFSS. Not only does it have the approved acronym list, but it also explains how EPBs should be written. • Write complete narratives that include the action and the impact/result. The strongest narratives show both impact and measurable results. • Quantify whenever possible. Include personnel, aircraft, units, missions, dollars, hours, percentages, or other measurable data. • Be specific. Less fluff, more stuff. • Have at least two narratives per MPA when possible. One narrative often doesn’t capture the full scope of your contributions throughout the year, while three can sometimes force you to cut important details. Two is usually the sweet spot. • Read it out loud. If it doesn’t make sense when spoken, it probably needs work. • Have someone from another career field review it. If they can’t understand it, a board member may struggle too. • Align your language with the panel or board charge. Make it easy for reviewers to connect your accomplishments to what they’re looking for.
