@depomarket: ✅ Right to Preboarding: In the United States, airlines are required by law to offer preboarding to passengers with disabilities under the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA), which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in air travel. Airlines must offer preboarding to passengers with disabilities who self-identify and request assistance or extra time to board, stow mobility aids, or get settled. Chris looks like any other 30yr old male, but Chris also walks with his head down. This makes it hard for him to pay attention to his surroundings so being in line or a crowded place can be very challenging which is why we often choose to pre-board. 🛫 The ACCA only applies to air travel, so it is different from the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) 🔹 The ADA applies to public accommodations, employment, state and local government services, and transportation (like buses and trains). It does not apply to commercial airlines (they are explicitly exempt). 🚐 The ADA does apply to airport facilities, shuttle buses, and public transit systems at or near airports Under the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA), passengers are not required to disclose the nature of their disability in order to receive accommodations like preboarding. ••• #disabilityinclusion #autism #disabilitytravel #autismmom #travelhawaii #momlife #specialneedsmom #asd #accessibility #accessibilitymatters #specialneedsfamily #actuallyautistic #disabilitylife #autismfamily #caregiver #caregiversupport #caregiverlife #autismawareness #autismacceptance #inclusion #specialneeds #autistic #neurodivergent #neurodiversity #autisticadults #autisticpride #actuallyautistic #autisticburnout #caregiverburnout #disabilitylife #autismfamily

My Sunflower Lanyard also helps the gate agents understand my need to preboard

when I travelled for the first time in years I wore my sunflower lanyard and the plane was like 20 minutes late so when they called disabled people on people who weren't disabled were trying to get on and were aggressively staring at me 😀

TSA Cares will get passengers with disabilities through security in whatever ways works best for them. My daughter is autistic and it saves us so much stress. 💖

Definitely use TSA Cares to support folks moving through security lines. Ask for a supervisor if standard agent isn’t getting it at lines.

Chris, that backpack is 🔥. TSA Cares and the sunflower lanyard were VERY helpful when we took our son on his first flight. (Everyone we met was so kind and helpful.)

I have a disability and I try to board last. Less people to crowd u. No one’s reaching over u trying to put bags above ur head.everyone unusual sitting and already settling. Less time I’m sitting there and watching time go by ect

Southwest told my child flying alone that she needs to be in a wheelchair to preboard. The 3 grown ladies mocked and humiliated my child to the point a bystander stepped in to help. I filed complaints and Southwest double down but did offer me 75 dollar coupon. I'm doubling down now but want others to know what they are doing. My daughter has a medical condition and she even showed her medical devices even though she didn't have to. These grown women rolled their eyes and argued with her and she said they did nothing wrong and that's the only question they ask. so be warned. it's against the law and needs to be changed

I ALWAYS carry a white cane with me. It's for visibility, and someone's I don't mind the wheelchair in larger airports lol. usually zip through the security line. And yes, let us not treat disability as a taboo like it's the 1950s. 🙄
