so im 16 (gen z but towards the end) and my frustration is i get made fun of for trying to tell people how bad it is. like i had a teacher make us use ai for an assignment, so i raised my hand and asked if i could do smthn else (i cannot do the environmental impact) and when he asked why snd i explained i just got laughed at. its not just gen z or gen alpha its the adults too.

Honestly what worries me almost as much as student AI use is the ammount of AI reliance I see in my teacher friends. We're workshopping a form and they're asking AI instead of the people around them. Emailing parents using AI instead of their own words

The way our school has addressed this is zero electronic devices used in the class. All assignments hand written in class and handed in same day. Homework assignments are either research-based or prepatory. The entire school agreed so those are the rules in every classroom now.

As a teacher I tell my students, it’s like asking someone else to stand in for every single training session, every game and then you have to go on the field and play in the grand final and not having mastered any of the skills. Every time you use it you rob yourself of the opportunity to learn, to hone a skill, to improve, to grow.

I'm autistic, & in high school I was very good at coding, but hated poetry because flowery & cryptic language is disgusting to me, so I wrote my own primitive ai to help me generate random poems from multiple dictionaries of words. It worked & my teachers thought it was very touching & personal, up until I revealed my source, which led to me getting an extension, followed by a zero because I refused to use the extension on principle.
