My husband and I try to buy an art piece on every trip we go on. Sometimes it’s something as simple as a 15 dollar print at a street fair. Makes for a very unique and collected vibe in our home!

Buy from living artists especially from local art fairs, farmers markets and co-op galleries. This is what supporting the arts looks like. I love Van Gogh but he doesn’t need anyone’s money anymore 😁

I was raised by serious art collectors and my other point is: you are hanging your art too high!!!! (Other tip: if you live in a city with a decent art school go to the end of year shows - esp the MFAs. It is a great way to find artists who are innovative, interesting, and who may sell you works that are reasonably priced).

Best thing I inherited from GMa was that she painted and traded her art with other artists. No one wanted the piles of framed oil and acrylic paintings when she died from all sorts of people. 🤯 Between that & the historic photos of fam, and our photos, I have a cool collection.

I’ve framed my children’s art (the good stuff 😂😂😅) mixed with thrifted paintings, some cool logo and some personal letters/drawings from passed family members as well as a collage I had printed of lots of art from my boys. Every time I look at it, it makes me happy 🥰
