Guys please rate my essay hook and be brutally honest- “Children of abuse speak a language you can’t learn, only misunderstand. Growing up in an abusive household is one of the most complex situations a child can be in. Many say to “marry the kind of man your father was,” but for me, the person that was supposed to protect me was the same person I needed protection from. If you do not have experience with physical or psychological abuse, you may not understand why I get nervous when someone close to me quietly scrolls on their phone, or why I ask “are you mad at me?” when they set the bag of groceries down too hard? My adolescence was a totally different way of living and I can attest that it impacts you long after you’ve left the situation.”

advice on my essay hook because I’m really struggling overthinking it 😭 to put it briefly, it sounds like this, although I’m definitely going to reword it to sound better: In the past couple years, my bedroom has been home to two tenants. (From there, I want to build on the idea that the first tenant was the past version of myself and the second is the current and evolving version of myself, both different but equally important contributions to who I am today, and how the changes I’ve experienced within myself had been reflected in my room throughout the years as I’ve grown and overcome my own challenges and hardships. Any advice would help so much<3

the "write it all the way through" is such a big part of anything tbh 😭 when I went to violin classes, my teacher would tell me to keep playing even if I messed up because I can fix it later on. it applies to anything and the product always comes out good to me

Guys this rlly helps😭 I went from wanting to write about the death of my mom and being raised by emotionally distant grandparents with trauma ridden siblings to how I went from *legal name* to Wren, because I see both as two separate people.
