@drizzleanddip: How to Make Vanilla Extract at Home Making vanilla extract at home is incredibly easy, and nothing beats the taste of pure, homemade vanilla. A friend bought me a bundle of vanilla pods from Madagascar, and they were not completely dry, so they were super easy to split in half. The entire bean, including the seeds, is loaded with flavour. Split them in half and then add them to a glass bottle with the lid. Top it off with a clear alcohol, such as vodka or white rum, which is what I have used, and then give the bottle a good shake. Store the bottles of vanilla extract in a cool, dark place for a few months until dark and ready to use. Give the bottle a shake periodically. When it’s mature, you should be able to decant half the liquid and then top up the original bottle for further maturation. This way, you would be able to get 1 ½ times the amount of liquid in the bottle of extract. #Recipe #vanilla #vanillaextract #howtomakevanillaextract
