We went 50/50 on that front. We designed the layout, cabinet fronts, chose all the appliances beforehand and added the requirements, then worked with the designer to do the remaining technical bits that are process related. Admittedly my profession leaves me in a very unique position here as I’m used to designing products and then making them. Things like ducting and cabinet construction are better left to the kitchen company since that’s pure experience. All the drawer internals I’m designing and making myself since those products literally don’t exist as something off the shelf.

nah. I designed and fully build only one kitchen, for me. it's ugly and absolutely not perfect. and I love it with all my heart.
