it's the first rehomed pet, a GCC can be rehomed 5 to 7 times in the first years of their lifes because they are NOT beginner birds. they are bully, they are nippy, they can be loud and they are intelligent and clingy. stop promoting bad pet care.

love them but as a GCC owner, no not a beginner bird. long life spans, very loud, very needy in terms of interaction and toys and space.

They’re not entry level birds. Can get very hormonal and bordering on bipolar behaviour. You see many go into rescue as a result.

Why do people keep saying not a beginner’s bird? My conure is amazing and he’s my first bird. He doesn’t bite he’s so loving. It takes time patience and interaction. If you don’t have any of that then you shouldn’t have any bird..

Everyone says they’re bipolar but I like conures. I had a half moon conure as my first bird. Kind of a a hole at first but it chilled out a lot after a couple months.

I got a GCC after having a cockatiel because they were said to be beginner friendly…. They ARE NOT! While they are beautiful and cuddly and entertaining. They are feisty and temperamental. Bitey and hard work!
