Only it's not fiction... it's just a mischievous raccoon (Procyon lotor), and somehow, it had managed to wedge itself beneath a layer of astroturf. Raccoons are curious by nature, impressively dexterous, and utterly fearless when exploring tight spaces. Their front paws have five highly sensitive fingers, capable of turning knobs, unlatching cages, and even opening jars. Some studies suggest their tactile ability rivals that of primates. Combine that with a strong memory and problem-solving skills, and you’ve got one of the most adaptable urban mammals in the world.
