I'm a fan of the Masters type of test. I play another very highly ranked Alister Mackenzie designed course in Michigan called Crystal Downs. It's very much like Augusta in terms of playing with precision but not as penal as a U.S. Open. It requires you to learn a lot about the course and use some imagination

The masters is far superior. The open def rewards accuracy but the rough and luck of the lie you get from the rough plays too big a factor in my opinion.
