@theintrovertedrecruiter: Been auto-rejected for a job? This is why. 1. You've applied for a job on the company website and it has asked you some questions as part of the application process. These answers will determine whether your application progresses or not. Reasons can vary such as you don't have the right qualifications, you're in the wrong location, your salary expectations don't match. Note, it's the answers not your CV. 2. Sometimes when you apply via LinkedIn or some Job Boards (Indeed, Reed etc) often you have to set up a profile. In that profile you will complete sections where you state what skills you have, how many years of experience you have and other attributes. If your profile (not your CV) doesn't match the pre-determined criteria set by the recruiter, you will get rejected. 3. On very rare occasions, a recruiter will have closed a requisition (a job) on the ATS without reading your CV. It could be because the role has gone on hold, it's been pulled or even filled. Once the requisition is closed, all candidates who applied for that job will get the rejection email. If none of those scenarios apply, then a recruiter has read your CV and rejected you. Not AI. Sometimes the rejection will come instantly after they've read it, sometimes it will come a few hours or days afterwards, even at 3am on a Monday. That's because somebody has set a "send delay" option on the rejection email or the recruiter is working a different time zone to you. The ATS is not reading your CV and rejecting you.
