I can't speak for all Latinos, but in the case of the Trump supporters in my Dominican family they say it was because the economy was better under Trump, and no matter how much I tried to explain everything that was going to happen and why the economy was better under Trump- it didn't matter. and at the end of the day, because they live in blue States and have never truly felt the extent of evil that is racism towards Latinos because they've always lived in states with large Latino populations, they didn't believe me. and now they're shocked about everything like I didn't tell them months ago what was going to happen.

Disagree slightly, it’s also the effect the caste system has had psychologically on Latinos esp Mexicans. Proximity to whiteness was directly tied to privilege, power and safety second hand.

Not just assimilation. My tias who don't speak a lick of English and are dark skinned Nicaraguans think they are white. Self-hatred is one reason some of these delulu Latinos are MAGA. They literally say they hate black people when they are dark skinned themselves. It's nuts.
