Gomana Gony :
During the Ottoman Empire, the Gulf regions, including Kuwait, were administered within the Ottoman province of Basra, but the situation was somewhat complicated. The administrative situation of Kuwait during the Ottoman era: 18th-19th century: Kuwait was ruled by the Al-Sabah family. Kuwait was nominally part of Ottoman Basra, but it was not directly administered by the Ottomans. There were administrative and formal connections at times. The Ottomans appointed a Qaimmaqam (local governor) over Kuwait, but in practice, it remained administered by its sheikhs. Britain and the Ottoman Empire: In 1899, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah signed a secret agreement with Britain, making Kuwait an "undeclared British protectorate." After this agreement, Ottoman control began to effectively fade, although it officially continued until the fall of the Ottoman Empire after World War I. Ottoman maps: There are old Ottoman maps showing Kuwait within the borders of the "Basra Province," but this does not indicate that rule was centralized or direct. Conclusion: Yes, Kuwait was administratively part of Ottoman Basra for a period, but it enjoyed semi-independent rule by the Al-Sabah sheikhs. The Ottoman Empire did not actually control the administration of Kuwait, but was satisfied with the symbolic recognition of the sovereignty of the Al Sabah family. Old Ottoman map. Stop deceiving the Iraqi people. We will not allow Khor Abdullah to belong to the people and not to any of you.
