@leaderofthepacklv: Balance isn’t about choosing between correction OR reward. It’s about knowing how to apply both at the right time, in the right way, for the right dog. Yes, I use ecollars & prong collars (not with every dog). And yes, sometimes I begin with a correction. Why? Because many problem behaviors need to be stopped, addressed and or interrupted before they can be redirected. The correction opens the window to teach. But after that correction, my entire focus shifts: ✅ What do I want the dog to do instead?✅ How do I want the dog to feel? ✅ What behavior can I build to replace the unwanted one? ✅ How can I make positive associations and emphasize good decisions 🗣️Correction creates clarity ➡️ Reward creates association ➡️ Repetition creates confidence 💯 Read that again 👆🏽 When done properly, the dog doesn’t just stop bad behavior, they learn what’s expected and feel good about doing it. This is why balance works. And this is why so many people struggle. They either live in the land of constant correction, or pretend corrections aren’t necessary at all.
