In my 23 years in pools, NEVER heard this! You all ready put calcium in some pools, but you can’t put CalHypo into the pool? That make no sense. Plus, you have to clean those salt cell regularly anyway. Also, you add cyanuic acid individually.

I add pool stabilizer or CYA at open and get it around 40-45 ppm. I shock with 2-3 one pound bags at startup when water is too cold to generate. don't want to add any more CYA with shock.

I have a client with a salt water pool that constantly has geese that get in their gunite pool. I found that cal hypo is works best to neutralize that goose waste that settles on the bottom but I do clean the salt cell 1-2 times during each season

Nonsense. Salt pool here 25kgal cal Hypo ain't raising your hardness enough to move the needle and won't calcify your cell enough to worry unless you shock it every day for a year.Listen to this guy if you want to drain off half youe pool from chlorine lock

You have to starve it of chlorine 1st. If chlorine is 2.0 or higher it's useless.
