@saradaviescc: Let’s talk about something that holds many people back: age. More specifically, the idea that you’re too young or too old to start a business, chase a dream, or take a leap. It’s one of the most common hangups I hear — and one I’ve had myself. In this week’s episode of The 6 Minute Entrepreneur on YouTube, I’m diving into why age is just a number, in life and business. Take Carla from @GoodWashDay, one of my investments from the last series of Dragons’ Den. She started her business at 50. She had an incredible career behind her, but still had that spark, that idea, and the drive to build something of her own. She didn’t let the number hold her back. She saw it as an advantage, with experience, confidence, and a clear sense of purpose. Now, she’s built a brilliant brand that’s changing lives. And then there’s me. I started my business at 21, full of energy, big ideas, and zero clue what I was doing. But I went for it. And here’s something I don’t often say. When the opportunity came to join Dragons’ Den, I nearly didn’t go for it. I thought, “I’m too young. Who’s going to take me seriously? What if I don’t belong there?” But eventually, I realised that was just me getting in my own way. The only real barrier was the one in my head. So I dropped it. I backed myself. And I became the youngest ever Dragon on Dragons’ Den. Now, years later, my journey has crossed paths with Carla’s. Two women at different stages of life. Two different stories. But the same passion, the same drive, and a shared belief that age doesn’t define you. It doesn’t decide what you’re capable of.
