Through no fault of Shimmers own, she was ran through the first auction with her mom who was incredibly sick, her body shutting down. In the morning, they found her dead and so a horse trader brought the orphan sick to a second auction, knowing rescues would be there and could potentially get her help. @paw4thefoundationtx bid on the orphan foal to get her safe, not realizing how incredibly sick she was. Knowing what these foals will cost to save their life, we have personally spent $16,000 saving a baby’s life, they found us to see if we could help them. THAT is rescuing responsibly. Realizing that they just don’t have the reach or the capabilities to fundraise on a scale that we do we absolutely agreed to help. It’s not about anything except saving her life. It’s about coming together on behalf of them and through working together, you create new friendships, new connections and a stronger community that works TOGETHER, for them. We initially had started our fundraiser at $6000 because that is a typical pneumonia case. It wasn’t until the baby got to the hospital that they realized how serious her fight was and got a hold of me to let me know it would potentially be closer to $10,000 if not more. Rescues who refused to work together either from their own traumas of working with the wrong rescues or just not wanting to get involved in the drama, that is the rescue world. The beauty of it is that in meeting new people, you also meet those whose hearts are at the forefront, not their ego.
