They are not less qualified. Kids coming out of Andover and Exeter are built different. They are uniquely qualified and prepared and find that Yale is less rigorous that high school. Another fun fact: it is much harder to get into a top school from Andover/Exeter because the peer group is so strong. Almost any kid at these elite prep schools would have had better college admissions results attending a normal high school. Two last fun facts: 1)if you apply early to a sub 10% acceptance rate school, and get in, you have to go. Even if it’s an early action school like Yale. So the college knows the kid is coming to protect their yield, and it makes it so kids aren’t competing in regular rounds. 2)there are 5 top schools that basically wait list all the kids at Andover/Exeter, and have a back door deal that if they don’t get into their top school, they can have a spot.

Has it been pretty easy to make friends as a transfer student? I was also a transfer student and had the hardest time making friends. I’m also a super introvert 🫣

You can’t do anything about legacy or friend groups . Just find people you like well enough. Certain schools ride themselves on legacy. I transferred and it was hard. I think focusing interests, study, take walks. Be outgoing. Join club, or go out. Self love. I would believe it’s East Coast and I heard Exeter is a feeder school it’s one of the oldest universities and legacy admissions okay a tile as I remember in high school when applying. It’s not a bad thing it’s a social thing. Diversity will only been found after college in a big city and even then some stay within groups. Everyone has something to contribute to the world and you go to school to prepare for life and academics- career. After, you won’t care about this .. it’s a brief time. You go to Yale because you are smart.
