personality isn't relevant?!? It's highly relevant. Can I work with them, can they fit into the team, how will they speak to customers, how do they conduct themselves under pressure? I've hired people I could train to do the job and their personality won the spot

It's rude. I would rather talk to a person, so that I can gauge their response to know what the workplace environment and rules are like instead of a monotone robot who will give me generic answers that they pulled from the internet that have nothing to do with the actual workplace I have applied for. We dedicate so much of our time, energy, and lives to these companies. An interview is meant to go both ways. If a place isn't willing to give me their time after SCHEDULING an interview they are expecting me to be present for, but not themselves, it's an automatic pass for me.
