@brouyang: It’s just not helpful, lady #airplane #flyingwithkids #flyingwithtoddlers #travel #airtravel #MomsofTikTok #toddlertantrums #flightattendant
I think it the flight attendant is required to say that and it’s important for your daughter to hear it not just from you but from an authority on the flight. This is a moment when travel becomes a life lesson for her.

If someone else tells most kids something, they usually listen better. It’s like when they’re at school. She’s trying to do her job too.

I think it's actually the FAs job, also sometimes you have to hear it from an official, not your mom.

I had a United FA tell me if my son didn’t sit down and stay seated, we would turn the plane around and go back to the gate. He was 2 and I was actively dealing with the issue when she walked up. Freaked me right out. My son did settle down but it was so scary for me. Having kids is crazy hard, especially if you’re traveling alone with them.

If she doesn’t tell you or say it she can get in trouble or fined. Your child is still a person and passenger and the FAA requires flight attendant to inform passengers safety regulations. They can be personally fined if FAA is onboard the doing a check

That’s her job. I have a child with adhd. My go to on the flight used to be that the boss would come over if she didn’t behave. I would tell the flight attendants to make eye contact with her if she was not listening. Worked every time.

It is a FAA rule and a SAFETY issue.

Reframe. She was seeing your struggle and trying to help you get the job done as an authority figure your daughter might listen to. .

Yeah, let’s delay the entire flight because your kid can’t sit still 🙄 the entitlement of parents is beyond. If your kid can’t behave don’t bring them. “You’re not entitled to a child free world” blah blah. Give me a break. I’m so over this narrative.

I know it’s tough though with other people needlessly judging for babies crying, I think those people are assholes, but she said it like that because it was a safety issue, and sometimes gentleness has to take second seat to safety. I don’t think she meant it as a snarky comment to you, since she said it directly to your daughter. descent is the most dangerous part of flying, the plane can jerk around suddenly from crosswinds and such.

Omg I would be thrilled if my kid got a real world lesson in consequences of public behavior (and safety!) from a professional authority figure like that. The flight attendant is required to make sure passengers are safe. This is a bizarre and entitled take, why do you think they should be exempt from being told that?

See this would totally work on my kid so I’d be celebrating the FA for this 😂

This is such a weird perspective. It takes a village and that village includes people helping us reinforce to our kids that there are real-world consequences. The flight attendant’s priority is safety so she wasn’t overstepping, and she was speaking professionally. Maybe you’re upset bc you felt embarrassed in the moment, but no one is wrong here. Please take a moment to reconsider whether you’re misdirecting your frustration about the situation. Assuming that no one has a right to do their job if your child is involved will turn your kid into a coddled, entitled adult.

that flight attendant is the village moms are complaining doesn't exist anymore! if your kid is being disruptive the person in charge has every right to correct her in an age appropriate way. You're projecting a lot of negativity onto the flight attendant who was trying to join your team and show your daughter it wasn't just "because mom said so"

Okay what a horrible flight attendant. Also experienced from others the eye rolls, the look backs, the huffs - like it doesn’t help people! People forget kids are little humans and they have every right to exist and be in public spaces too.

The very first “no, we need to sit” that I remember is from a PSA flight attendant. I was like 3/4. Scared me and I never thought twice again on sitting and keeping my mouth closed after that. Since I’m not on a no fly list - it obviously worked.
