Chosen Foods — America's #1 avocado oil brand — was one of only two brands verified as 100% pure in UC Davis' original 2020 study. Their bottled oil was the gold standard. Then UC Davis tested their mayo. Both lots of Chosen Foods avocado oil mayonnaise failed purity testing. Both lots of their dressings failed too. The brand that built its reputation on being one of two clean avocado oils on the market is now selling mayo and dressings with adulterated oil inside. This isn't a contradiction — it's a supply chain problem. A brand's bottled oil and its processed food products can come from entirely different suppliers. Chosen Foods' oil may be pure. Their mayo supplier's oil wasn't. Out of every avocado oil mayo tested in the study, only one brand passed both lots: Grove AvoYeah. Every other brand — Chosen Foods, Primal Kitchen, Sir Kensington's, BetterBody Foods, Sprouts store-brand — all failed. Chosen Foods charges 67 cents per ounce.
