I struggled with that for a long time until I accepted that salvation has nothing to do with your works, only the work of Jesus. You will do works because you are saved. You don’t work to be saved.

we are not Saved by our works period. and no matter how much we love Jesus or work to prove our worth, it will never be enough to save (we are a fallen broken people without Christ). The blood of Christ is the only thing that saves. You, We, Everybody wil never deserve His grace, His blood but He gives it anyway. that is God's love. you 100% can know you will be in Heaven because your assurance is in Christ (not yourself).

I believe, based upon what I have seen and feel, that we only believe 80-90% that God loves us because to boldly state “He loves me” we realize we are unworthy of His love. And knowing we are unworthy creates doubt. But if we believe 100% then we fall into a heart of pride that can cross over into, “I am worthy”. Paul says, Lord I believe! Help my unbelief. We will always struggle with the juxtapose position of pride in His love and humility in our unworthiness.

Assurance is a gift from the Holy Spirit, but still a legitimate struggle. Regardless, salvation isn't by feelings, thoughts, deeds etc. It's 100% Christ on that cross, depend on that, nothing to do with self. Don't add to the gospel. Trust in the One who doesn't lie.
