her music lacks the radicalism necessary to subvert the imagery she employs. her music does not portray the satire that she thinks the album cover is giving. satire can still cause harm if it too closely mimics oppression. there is no way to differentiate between satire and catering to the male gaze with this album cover. she missed the mark unfortunately

none of this is purity culture babe… i hear ppl arguing about how demeaning and dehumanizing ourselves on our own accord is somehow liberating… do we hear ourselves!? were we not having the exact same arguement shoved down our throats about staying in the home, letting our men be our sole providers, etc. because we would be free from the responsibilities of work and management of finances etc!?
