The church does not produce scripture (ie give its ontology and authority). Scripture derives its authority by its author, God. The church recognizing or knowing scripture ministerally does not presuppose some infallible magisterium, as the Pharisees had authority to recognize and interpret the Tanak, but they weren’t infallible.

Never engage with a protestant who quote mines church fathers, first make him establish unfallacious criteria for when church fathers are valid. They wont be able to do it, its like muslims that go to the Bible and pick verses that agree with the Quran
