The Sierra Leone Teachers Union (SLTU), alongside sub-associations including the Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (CPSS), National Council of Head Teachers (NaCOHT), Council of Heads of Technical and Vocational Institutions (CHTVI), and Nursery Schools Association (NSA), has thanked teachers for their solidarity in the strike action that began on September 8, 2025. The union also acknowledged support from the Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security, the Sierra Leone Labour Congress, and other groups. The strike prompted multiple engagements with the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, the Teaching Service Commission, and Vice President of Sierra Leone, yielding these government commitments: 1	Subsidies for second- and third-term school fees from the 2024/2025 academic year have been disbursed to most schools nationwide; affected institutions are urged to report discrepancies to local SLTU district officers promptly. 2	Of 1,802 suspended teachers (out of 4,662 total) reinstated on the payroll, payments for July and August have been issued to most, with the remaining 325 due in September (including backlogs); verification continues for others. 3	A joint committee, coordinated by the Vice President’s office and involving the Ministries of Basic and Senior Secondary Education and Finance, the Teaching Service Commission, and SLTU, will address all unresolved issues. Following an emergency meeting on September 12, 2025, the union resolved to suspend the strike effective immediately, urging teachers to resume duties on September 15, 2025. SLTU and sub-associations will monitor subsidy and salary payments closely. The union called on all teachers to continue delivering dedicated service to the nation. #fyp #fypシ #viral #sierraleonetiktok🇸🇱 #sierraleone
