@jeanne_retired: Replying to @SlowRun74 I struggled when I first retired too! It took me a full 12-18 months but now 3.5 years later I don’t miss it at all! It’s a journey.. give it time. You have your freedom and that’s priceless! #retirement #retiredlife #retireearly #retirementplanning #retirementadvice #retired #lifeisshort #over50 #over60 #boomer #genx #

I hate that question because I feel like there's judgement behind it. As if someone only has value if they work a 9-5

I’m 63 and 20 months into retirement. I struggle to get out of my own head about answering the question and feeling I will be judged for not being “productive”. Because I went from 100 mph to zero fairly quickly, I still have PTSD from years of corporate gaslighting and wonder why I put up with it for as long as I did. Starting to realize it’s okay to spend lazy days doing virtually nothing if I so choose.

I love it. 63 and 6 months retired. I can breathe, relax and honour my whole self with what I want not what I have to do. My job now= make every cell in my body happy 🩷🙏

Amen sister! Early on I realized I was replaceable no matter my skillset, made it much easier to leave when it was time.

Not going to lie, it was a tough adjustment for me. I retired at 54, a little over 3.5 years ago and the first couple of years I felt I needed to be doing something all the time and that I needed to be productive ALL the time everyday. I can honestly say, I finally feel comfortable relaxing and enjoying life without feeling guilty. Early on, I almost jumped back into the workplace, but realized that wasn’t the answer for me because I’d just be trading more money for time.

I was not prepared for this kind of attitude from literally EVERYONE, our work culture in the US can’t grasp early retirement

Maybe they ask so they can DREAM! It sounds great to retire. We on the other side really want the 411, the Deets, inspiration. Don’t read into the question.

Just say you're working on the great American Novel. You don't actually have to do it, but it's something easy for them to understand.

I’m 54 just retired a month ago. My husband is still working. Wondering about health insurance after he retires. Is it really expensive?

My last official day is Monday! My last work day was Wednesday, though. I'm 55 and BLESSED. Lots of folks are asking me what I have planned and what am I going to do. My answer is "Absolutely nothing sbd whatever I want!"
