former Nephro NP here. covering the clinic, hospital, and dialysis is very draining. the formal hours are good, but there's a lot of charting from home, a lot of dialysis calls 24 hours a day, weekends, holidays. You're rarely, truly, off work.

I’ll never understand why people thinking a physician who completed all the training they did makes a good wage at anything under $300 an hour! Try hiring a lawyer for less! Or a decent mechanic or plumber! Like I said, starting salaries for physicians full-time should be no less than $500,000 a year out of residency! That’s only $200 an hour for a 50 hour week
