I think she actually didn’t want him (like physically and emotionally) but he was a reminder of her hometown, of the life that she left behind, also, they both speak the same language and he was an important part of her childhood, I think that that’s why she felt that connection with him.

He was her “what if”, the embodiment of a life she could have had, and the grief of a life not chosen. We all have what ifs, the movie portrays all the emotional complexity that comes with it. But she didn’t necessarily want him, i think she was happy with her life she was just grieving another version of her life/self.
