@zachex: How do I make custom fonts using Adobe Illustrator? Here’s what I do. I start by sketching all the letters on paper. Then I take that data, import it into Illustrator, align the letters, and trace them one by one. Once everything is clean, I arrange them into one line and make sure they all fit inside one bounding box. Then I go to Window > Extension > Fontself — it’s a third-party plugin I use to create fonts inside Illustrator. I organize the letters from A to Z, select them all, and drag them into Fontself. I always make sure it’s set to uppercase because I’m designing a display font. After that, I fine-tune the kerning, line height, spacing — just making sure everything looks good.
