look where you said you didn't want to cut and you have a well established shoot. cutting down puts the energy back to them new shoot.

it's a stronger stem down there. Side shoots up high on a weak stem will fall over.

My Dad always said cut down to 3 or 5, so that’s what I do. Seems to work
