Why do people complain about us paying our 2% Medicare levy. It’s my favourite tax to pay. Like guys… we are all literally looking after each other. You have a baby, get sick, break a leg… it’s all goods, me and your fellow aussies have all chipped in to cover the cost of your medical expenses. Just helping each other out. We are so cute! I love us!

all these people saying it’s not free its Medicare. Yes Medicare is paying via tax, but her bank account is seeing it as free. We pay tax for Medicare regardless if you’re having kids.

Seriously questioning why on earth I’ve been paying for private health insurance in Australia for 15+ years when the only time I’ve ever used the hospital system, my appendix ruptured, I was still out of pocket thousands

Haha you think it’s free? Who do you think funds Medicare? If you are a tax paying Aussie 2% of your income goes to the “free” system

Still anyone who lives in another country can come over to Australia to have there baby to get all of this for free so it isn’t just for Australian if people want to they can have there child here obviously have to pay for fights and stuff but would still be cheaper to do that then have a baby in America I don’t know if it messes up with there citizenship in America but because they will automatically be Australian citizens if born in Australia

It’s not completely free. We all pay a Medicare levy in our tax so taxpayers pay for it. It’s not completely free.

It’s not a fair comparison to compare first world with third world countries

As an Aussie tax payer this makes me so happy and proud. Knowing that you’re helping someone be well and looked after with the birth of their new little human and getting them started off in life is amazing. ❤️❤️❤️

Why are these comments so sensitive like dam she’s just making a video because America is ridiculous who tf wants to pay 10k+ after having a baby cause if I was in America I would be childless 😂😂😂 we pay for doctor appointments at the beginning or we get money back from Medicare yay Australia

Out of curiosity - in the public system do you have to wait a long time to see a OBGYN? I’m Australian but don’t have kids, but just know wait times for other specialists in public system is wild

I had my daughter Minnie at the same hospital as you three months ago and I could never go to a private hospital. The same hospital you were at looked after myself and my daughter for five nights while my daughter was in special care nursery and we also got the care of the public Health Nurse came to our house after. The Australian public health system is amazing and looked after us so well.

We are Australian. Went to America for holiday, husband got sick, $4000 bill, we just laughed and hung up on them when they rang trying to get us to pay the bill.

COMPLETELY FREE except the money comes from high taxes, registrations, tolls, fines, stamp duty, HECS debt and a thousand other ways they create the cost of living crisis most of us are now in, but yeah, free.

Very interesting. Completely different in Brisbane. I paid so much for GP and scans. Lots of out of pocket expenses. I had a traumatic birth and still have out of pocket expenses for my follow up appointments.

Same with cancer my husband and I paid massive tax over the years, retired and it’s all coming back to us with the best of care, even stem cell transplant, so it’s a good system

YES the Australian healthcare has been absolutely amazing, Australia is so so there for our children’s health and well being. We had private health and everything was covered and reimbursed it was absolutely wild. Also you are able to call advisors for breastfeeding anytime and they do also help for free and are so knowledgeable 💕

Paid through our taxes with the Medicare levy is not free. However, I have no big issues with our Australian health system as it benefits everyone.
