you need to speak to adults who were home educated 🙃 not the parents who are going to be blind to their own failings. nobody should home school unless its an absolute last resort

With all the woke agenda, I’m considering home schooling my son. I don’t want to leave it by chance who influences him into the man he becomes!

I am a qualified teacher who has left full time education to support parents who home educate their children. Based in Sandbach,Cheshire and can offer structured learning during the week for a more formal approach.

8yrs in. You don’t need to follow the curriculum. Follow their interests, I always used tutors for maths & English as my goal was always for them to get minimum 2gcses for college (that’s all you need btw for level2). One is a carpenter, one kid is off to uni in September engineering. Last one is nearly 14.

We decided to home Ed our boys - then thought well why are we staying in England to do it? So we sold our house and we’re off worldschooling them now 😅 It gives you so much freedom. School is inefficient 🤷🏻♀️

So many in the comments who have no clue how good the home ed scene is nowadays. It’s incredible and make children thrive. Schools are so outdated and simply a place to create sheep.

Damn. Us long time home educators are counting on our kids being weird; that’s literally the plan. So many ‘normies’ are joining in these days 😭😂

I can only comment what I do, and it can be as expensive or as cheap as you want to make it. I'm year 3 and my older children we use £2 tuition hub for GCSE studies and I paid for my eldest exams he just took them in a school. he's doing a levels now. but we use national trust, farm school, forest school, swimming, clubs, museums, music lessons etc we read so much .. I say I facilitate learning so they want to learn something I will find it if in my power to do so. there are so many free resources and content creatures that do free learning like @theatreofscience

but you're playing Russian Roulette sending them to mainstream school. Bullying, verbal aggressive abuse from teachers and safety in general (lockdown issues)

It’s not expensive. My kids do online lessons with a teacher, it’s £2 a lesson. Then there’s a great science teacher on Facebook. Her page is called theatre of science. She does free lessons from her page. There’s also free pre recorded lessons on bbc bite size, oak academy. There’s also mathswebtutor on Facebook. She’s only around £2 an online lesson too. For anyone who’s interested there’s loads of advice on HEFA Facebook page. My kids do 2 online classes a day, a bit of reading or workbook then we’re out all day home ed groups, beaches and parks. The only thing about home ed is you have to play for GCSES yourself at an exam centre and the IGCSE home ed lessons are a little bit more expensive. Than ks2 or ks3 lessons. However most home ed kids only do the GCSEs they need to go on to college. Usually just English and maths.

Honestly you don’t need to spend a fortune! Tutor online, one in person tutor and loads of free resources but it’s a big commitment and you had to be prepared! Quite honestly though it’s nothing compared to the stress of school and the affect it has on them and everyone else. I pay £3.50 for a few online zooms and one £35 a week for one to one for maths, everything else I use is free

Hahaha! I was the same …. I work in a primary school my self at the minute but I’ve just handed my notice in there to finish in July ready to start home schooling all three of my children in sep. I will be working from home doing something completely different, but it will work around home schooling. And my husband will still be working (not from home) but the idea is travel more and enjoy them while their children. Always wanted to do it but never been in a position before where we could but now we can and I can’t wait

Kings Interhigh full time online independent school- costs £5100 per year up to year 9 and £6185 per year 10 & 11. Local authorities can fund this when regular school is proven unsuitable but otherwise can be paid termly. Sounds a lot but works out much cheaper than tutors who charge £35/£50 per hour if looking still for eduction that follows National Curriculum.

You don’t need money to home school. Don’t need tutors. I have 3 home ed kids, 1 is now working, 1 becoming a falconer, and the other studying to go into palaeontology.

Also just want to add. The good thing about home ed is other than maths and English your kids can choose which subjects they’re interested in. Art, design, forensics , psychology, media, astrology etc there’s so much choice out there.
