@allllybravo: Very disappointing to receive this type of DM. I’ve recieved comments and DM’s about if I do consults about filling out the paperwork and I don’t. I’m not looking to make money off this. It took me 3 years to get my paperwork together, get a doctor to fill it out and send it in for approval. I know how hard it is just to do these things and I hope this helps others to get started. #canadiantaxes #disabilitytiktok #taxcredit #advocate #canada🇨🇦
I’m autistic and have ADHD and the CRA makes me complete the paperwork every 5 years just in case I am no longer disabled in 5 years. The CRA makes sure no one “takes advantage” of the system 😅

I got diabetic neuropathy started 2012, take 2 insulins since 2013, Charcot foot since 2018. Walk with an air cast and cane for the rest of my life. Does that mean I qualify?

Service Canada is not the same thing as Canada Revenue Agency…. So I hope that the complaint made her feel better, cause Service Canada doesn’t process those forms.

I have ADHD, and support two children with ADHD. Based on the CRA website credentials, none of us separately "meet" the criteria. However navigating a neurodivergent household with two children needing various supports - trying to maintain my own supports - it would really help having access to more government programs. People who don't see our barriers are quick to comment on what we need. They aren't the ones who have to live with an invisible disability.

I work for the CRA in assets and benefits, and I regularly review DTC T2201s. I can assure you her “complaint” means absolutely nothing. You didn’t do anything wrong.

There's nothing wrong with applying. If you don't meet the criteria, you won't be approved.

Apply, always apply. BUT a claim won’t be approved unless your disability affects your daily living by the required amount of time with proof.

There is NO harm in applying. There is assessment criteria. If someone doesn’t meet it, they won’t receive it.

these forms are such a barrier. I'm audhd with 3 neurospicy kids and just the thought of filling a form brings me to tears. your information was helpful, accessible, and not in any way encouraging ppl to abuse the system.

Service Canada is the wrong department. CRA processes disability tax credit applications.

Is it called the disability tax credit or the severe disability tax credit? Exactly

I don't want to hear anyone talk about abuse of our tax dollars after what happened with CERB!! We had retirees using that! 🙄Knowing how to use the Disability tax credit is not abuse.

first of all, the CRA processes Disability Tax Credit applications, not Service Canada.. their decisions are based on the information provided by your medical practitioner. approvals aren't easy to get and most applications are denied.

Service Canada does not deal with that topic. It is CRA.....Perhaps the DM is a scam.

How is your information any different from anyone going to a tax specialist, a CA, or CPA for information on how to file taxes? You’ve just made it more accessible and FREE! That person needs to find a damn hobby.

I highly doubt service Canada cares that somebody is explaining how to complete a form. It’s up to them to determine if it’s a legitimate application or not.

Honestly, even if you have ADHD, it’s incredibly unlikely that you’ll be approved for the DTC. The eligibility criteria require daily living tasks, take 3x as long, 90% of the time - even with treatment. And Service Canada is likely going to say, it takes 2.9x as long, 89% of the time.
