If you’re watching this and feeling conflicted; I think you can feel both sad for young Barbara *and* angry/upset that adult Barbara did not seek the support she needed after it was made clear that her behaviour as an adult was inappropriate.

My mom would force me to eat and get violent about it. I told her if she ever pulled that with my kids we would fight out front. My kids are not forced to eat what they don't want but are encouraged to try things.

I hate that this will make me sympathize with Barbara but at the same time, I cannot have too much sympathy because as an adult, Barbara should have been responsible for her healing instead of inflicting trauma to her own kids.

I think this is why Barbra acts the way she does. She thinks this behavior is normal because of how she was raised. It doesn’t excuse her actions, but still, I’d understand it.
