no because my first code ever was in a semi private room & it was absolute chaos next door & the other patient was like “I asked for water an hour ago 😡” & my charge was like WE ARE SAVING SOMEONE’S LIFE RN YOUR WATER CAN WAIT 😭😭 what is wrong with people

as a paramedic of 4 months, ive had similar things happen to me TWICE already. twice!! me and my partner were doing cpr in a pts front garden (i was doing the compressions, partner monitioring resp) and the pts neighbour comes out yelling st us MID CPR saying "can you effing move your ambulance!! i need to take my kids to school!!" ma'am. your neighbours dying here, i sure yelled st her after that. second time me and a partner were rushing a pt into the hospital bay and in this specific hospital the waiting room was right next to ir with glass windows top to bottom. we get pt off with the doctors and the man comes storming into the bay (not allowed people!!) yelling about some fast pass just because my pt was in an ambulance, saying we're inconsiderate and he was here firet so my pt shouldve had to wait (pt was just in a house fire). never been so scared of my partner then when he was screaming at that man, jesus.

Once we were coding a patient and the pt from the room next door came barging in looking for me raging that I hadn’t given her, her non critical infusion yet. She screamed that she was just as important as the pt I was currently “touching”

Former Emergency tech here and we had to restrain and sedate a very combative and violent pt. You could hear the screaming on the other end of the ER. I came out bathed in sweat and went to wash my hands. Saw someone standing by their door and waved me over. I walked over and he said “discharge papers?” I’m like “I’m sorry?” He goes “we’ve been waiting for our discharge papers for an hour now, hello?” I lost it. I said “are you kidding me, did you not hear that? Do you actually think you are the only person in this ER right now?” The PATIENT who was in the bed said “dude stop, ma’am (me) we are in no rush, take your time. I’m sorry about him”

Of only thay were fiction. We had double GSW dropoffs. I was running to get a chestin an iso gown with blood on it and someone yelled at me because he hadn't got his sandwich yet. 🙄

I was once in a code and another nurse from that unit came in and asked for someone to come help her turn her patient. The calls be coming from inside your own dang house sometimes.

Had a walkie talkie pt yell at me and demand discharge because she waited an hour to be unhooked to go to the bathroom while I was coding someone. She then unhooked herself when I got back and AMA’d.

When I worked as an MA in the ER, one of my favorite things to do was humble greedy, impatient patients. They would say, "I asked my nurse for water" or "Why haven't I gotten my blanket yet" and I would respond with, "Sorry about that. Your nurse is currently doing CPR, but I'll be more than happy to grab it for you". I always enjoyed the look on their faces when I hit them with the truth 🥰

Ok so not proud of this. I was in labour, my water broke so I rang the bell. Nurses took forever to come (it was my third and I have fast labours) when they came in they apologized and said they had another patient who almost unalived down the hall and I was like “oh my gosh I’m so sorry! If I knew that I wouldn’t have pushed the bell, this is my third I could have figured it out” like we were both apologizing to each other

we had a code a few months ago in ICU - I'm always a compressor, me and 2 others were switching off and I'm standing at the back of the compressor line after finishing a round, by that point we had been doing CPR for almost 30 min so I'm out of breath and dripping sweat when a family member from the room next door came to ask me if we could keep the noise down and they were still waiting on the warm blanket that their nurse was supposed to bring 🤦🏻♀️

i really thought this was all an exaggeration until i was in a rapid response and we were intubating my patient, my other patient's family next door walked into that room looking for me to ask for a pillow and ice!!!! even worst this was a NURSE PRACTITIONER family member who did that i couldn't believe my eyes and ears
