with amount of games many companies play with endless interviews, ghost jobs etc. I'm not surprised at the crash out

One thing I used to do when rejected was wait 3 or 4 months, then reach back out to the hiring mgr. This landed me a job once when the chosen candidate had already lost their confidence.

You never know what someone is going through. He couldn’t regulate his emotions, true. What got him to that point?

Great set up, and this is very complicated. I think that your advice is wise and useful, and that both sides should take your advice. Understanding and compassion should have ruled the day for both. I do not know what the outcome of that should be, but both took it personally, that means even you guys took it too personally. Compassion and understanding makes things right.

I think you did the right thing. If he was willing to do all of that during an interview process, what would do at an actual job? When people show you who they are, you have to believe them, regardless of the set of circumstances or the nature of the relationship.

I hope Chris got something better. HR messed up. He was wrong, but rightly so.

You did the right thing, pass on him. You found out his true character if things don’t go his way or like he thinks it should.

Do employers have a way to blacklist those candidates to keep their resumes from getting back to the recruiters?

A well crafted scathing email would have been justified to call out the poor coordination during the hiring process. Chris fumbled the ball but so did the hiring company

I am so impressed you actually called him rather than just sending a second email or ghosting him entirely. You’re a class act!

Sometimes it’s necessary. It wasn’t the case here but there are companies that waste your time with 3+ interviews and then say no.

I would have accepted the apology and then explain specifically as to why he will not be going forth in the next round. Taking an opportunity to explain and sympathize. In today's climate of searching for a job it is especially long and tedious. That being said, people are loosing their minds out of desperation. This saves the company of receiving him in the lobby with a gun even tho it would be his fault. Being professional includes more than just the "usual".
